Funding to prevent violent robberies
The Government has announced it will spend $1.8 million to prevent robberies at dairies, superettes and small local businesses.
The funding will be used to co-fund security measures in businesses that are high risk and can’t cover costs of increasing security without help.
It’s expected all of the 500-600 businesses considered high risk will be eligible for co-funding. Around 3,500 businesses will be visited to receive safety advice.
Police have also recently announced their “There’s nothing good about stolen goods” campaign. The campaign targets businesses or individuals receiving stolen property from robberies.
