Ministry of Justice videos for jurors modernised to better reflect a more diverse justice system

Every year, thousands of New Zealanders give their time to serve on jury trials. The Ministry has updated and modernised its juror videos after 15 years.

The videos are shorter and help to explain the role of juries, the jury trial process and who jurors may see in the courtroom. The videos are available in Te Reo Māori, Samoan and Mandarin, and include short introductions from the Chief High Court Judge and the Chief District Court Judge.

The new videos are an important and valuable resource for people summoned as potential jurors, students and general members of the public who want to know more about how jury trials operate.

The videos will be available on the Ministry’s YouTube channel and linked to on the Jury Service page on the Ministry of Justice website. DVD versions will be supplied to all courthouses nationwide.
