The national helpline will provide 24/7 advice and support for people affected by sexual violence.
The Ministry of Social Development has placed an advance notice on the Government Electronic Tenders Service (external link) advising that they will soon be releasing a competitive tender for a national helpline for New Zealanders affected by sexual violence.
“The helpline will provide free access to information, crisis support and referral on to local service providers. It will be available 24/7 and will be accessible by phone, text, and online. The helpline is expected to be up and running by December 2017,” said Social Development Minister Anne Tolley.
It is part of the $46 million announced in Budget 2016 to better support victims and prevent sexual violence.
